Chairman Netheravon Parish Council Cllr Burke welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained that the Parish Council has now got responsibility of the former Old School under 5’s park.
We had written to all the residents in the area asking them what they would like to see happen to the derelict park. The council had also put notes in all residents’ doors informing them of the meeting this evening.
Cllr Burke read out the correspondence received which included:
- suggestions of replacing the equipment for the under 5’s.
- An area for residents to sit quietly
- Sensory garden
- Speed humps or other traffic calming measures
- Swings put in the Millenium Park.
- Grassy areas with benches to sit
- Removal of bark as this is used as a cat toilet
- Keep the enclosed area
- Make it an easy to maintain space
- Some shelter over the benches
- A small grassed area
Cllr Burke asked if there was a resident’s association, which there isn’t. He explained that the Parish Councillors are all volunteers, and we would really appreciate help from the local residents, as many hands make light work.
The clerk has heard from one resident who was happy to help with weeding, gardening etc.
It was agreed that a sub committee would be formed, 2 members of the council volunteered and 2 residents too. It was agreed that we would need a sketch/plan of the area before we could decide the next steps.
It was also mentioned that we may be able to get some help from the Stonehenge Area board wrt funding.
It was agreed that David would try tp get a sketch of the area together and the sub committee would meet on Sunday morning to plan what needs doing.
Outcome of this meeting would be taken to the next council meeting on the 12th February.
